Jim is a full time research student at IESD working towards a PhD in Energy and Sustainable Development. His research topic is ‘Reducing the carbon footprint of existing buildings at airports’ which is part of an EPSRC funded project entitled ‘Integration of active and passive indoor thermal environment control systems to minimise the carbon footprint of airport buildings.’ This wider project is being led by Brunel University and brings together researchers from De Montfort, the University of Bath, City University London and Loughborough University.
After three years part-time study at Sheffield Hallam University, Jim was awarded a BSc in Construction Management with first class honours in 2005. He went on to complete an MSc in Sustainable Architecture with Huddersfield University which was awarded with distinction in 2009. His final dissertation considered Passivhaus in the context of the Code for Sustainable Homes and has since been referred to in building press articles.
Jim’s professional career has provided experience in new build and major refurbishment projects. He has been involved in the formation and management of small to medium sized enterprises and is qualified as a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor. |
