Ivan graduated from the heating and air-conditioning division of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Belgrade University in 2004, where he received the Dusan Tomic Award for best student.

After graduating, Ivan joined the construction company Energoprojekt as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer where he took a significant role in designing the heating and air conditioning systems for several large projects.

Ivan’s experience of working as a design engineer is invaluable in his current research role. The aim of his research is to investigate the possibility of estimating the energy demand of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems using a minimal number of building and HVAC system parameters for both part load and design conditions for non-domestic buildings, in particular office buildings.

This project was begun in October 2006 and is part of the EU CityNet network of research students funded from the Marie Curie programme. CityNet comprises eight university research groups from six different European member countries and Turkey plus seven commercial enterprises and community authorities.
