Miaomiao He is a full time PhD student, working on ground source heat pump systems and numerical simulation of thermal systems.
After graduating from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology with a BEng in Building Service Engineering, Miaomiao joined the construction company ATAL as an Engineer. In 2005, she began research in ground source heat pump systems in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Hong Kong. The research investigated two types of ground source heat pump systems installed in the subtropical region with ground water flow. Based on the findings, recommendations were made to address the system sizing and operation issues. Miaomiao was awarded a MPil in 2007.
Miaomiao enroled as a PhD student at the IESD to continue her research on ground source heat pump systems in 2007. She is now focusing on the development of a dynamic 3D numerical model for borehole heat exchangers. The new model will facilitate dynamic simulation of fluid flow along the pipe loops and the transient behaviour of borehole heat exchangers. This development will help engineers to achieve better renewable system design and analysis.
Miaomiao is currently a committee member of the University’s Postgraduate Research Students’ Association (PRSA). |
