Leticia Ozawa-Meida is a research fellow at the Institute working on quantification and evaluation of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions at the local and regional level. She completed her PhD study at the School of Environmental Sciences in the University of East Anglia in 2007. Her PhD thesis is related to the response of the Mexican Cement Industry to Climate Change Initiatives. She also has a Masters degree in Energy Planning and an Engineering Degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. From 1996 to 2000, she worked as a research assistant in the Energy and Environment Group at the Engineering Institute in Mexico and in 1998 she was a research visiting student in the Energy Analysis Department in the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Leticia is an independent consultant specialised in energy accounting and climate change mitigation. She has conducted several projects for Mexican governmental departments and international organisations. She worked as a World Resources Institute (WRI) consultant for the Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT by its Spanish acronym) from 2005 to 2007, providing technical, strategic and managerial support in the implementation, operation and coordination of the Mexico GHG Accounting and Reporting Programme. One of the main objectives of this programme was to help Mexican companies to develop inventories of corporate greenhouse gas emissions and to quantify their emissions reductions in mitigation projects through training workshops and technical advice.

Dr Ozawa-Meida's research interests include corporate-wide and project-level greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting methods,  developing regional and national level GHG emissions inventories, energy analysis and modelling, and the study of corporate climate change strategies, as well as national GHG registries and carbon markets.
